International courses update
Cape Town
The Foundation has now handed over the third of three tranches of funding in support of the African Centre for Cities initiative at the University of Cape Town. Director Edgar Pieterse recently called in on the Foundation in London and updated the Trustees on the excellent development of the Centre and the Masters course the Foundation helped establish. We look forward to building on the relationship. Further information at www.acc.uct.ac.za.
London
The Foundation is currently in discussion with the LSE Cities programme to provide funds for a new initiative in teaching and research. We are offering funds to enable the LSE to take the MSc student cohort on field trips to some of the world’s fastest-growing conurbations in the BRIC economies (Brazil, Russia, India, China). The students will be able to work in groups to research key aspects of city life and design, and to turn that research into published guidance for future design. Further information at www.lse.ac.uk/collections/cities.
Hong Kong
Hong Kong University, having suspended recruitment to the MIDM course for a year, is set to re-launch with strong support from both its own Advisory Board and the Foundation. We are delighted to hear that advertising commences this month to attract a new intake for the academic year starting in September. Further information at http://fac.arch.hku.hk.
